Hon. Ephraim Teryima Agber has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Buruku Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 General Elections.
Agber made the declaration at Ugondo in Kusuv clan, Buruku Local Government Area, where he was received by community leaders, elders, traditional rulers, women, youths and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the gathering, Agber said he came home first to seek the consent and blessings of his kinsmen, stressing that respect for tradition and community approval remained central to his political journey.
He said his aspiration was driven by a vision of purposeful representation, strategic development and improved living standards for the people of Buruku Federal Constituency.
Agber also attributed his decision to what he described as the ongoing developmental strides in Benue under Gov. Hyacinth Alia, noting that the administration’s direction aligned with his own development-focused ideals.
According to him, his agenda is rooted in infrastructural development and policies aimed at improving the welfare of ordinary citizens.
Among dignitries and community elders that gathehered for the symbolic meeting were, the oldest man in Kusuv land, Ortamen Anungwa Agbo, with the support of chiefs, elders, women and youths.

The gathering also witnessed the distribution of rice to members of the community, while 50 wrappers were presented to widows as part of the outreach at the declaration event.
Several speakers at the occasion commended Agber’s decision to consult his people first and expressed confidence in his capacity to represent the constituency.


Among those who spoke were Dr. Ukeyima Adugu Gbileve, former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education; Hon. Cephase Iorkyaan Agber, former Caretaker Chairman of Buruku Local Government Council; Mr. Timothy Ayan, former Bursar, Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM); Prof. Godwin Abu; and Col. Obegu Thomas.
Others at the event included Hon. Tavershima Ikurtar, as well as traditional rulers and elders from across Kusuv clan.
The speakers described Agber as credible and prepared, and said his aspiration resonated with the expectations of the people under the prevailing political arrangement in the area.
They pledged support for his candidature and urged him to remain committed to inclusive consultation, peace and development-focused politics.
In his remarks, Agber thanked the people for what he called a humbling show of love and unity, saying the support demonstrated that the project had become a collective movement.
He said the declaration marked the start of a people-driven journey toward effective representation and sustainable development in Buruku Federal Constituency.
The event ended with prayers for peaceful political engagement and success in the 2027 electoral process.
