NNOBI (Anambra), Sept. 14, 2025: Residents of Amadunu Village, Nnobi, Idemili South LGA, have issued a solemn appeal to Gov. Charles Chukwuma Soludo to publicly pronounce that the flood-battered road from St. Paul’s Anglican Church into Amadunu be included in his works road construction programme if re-elected.
Speaking for the community, Chinedu Ogalue said the road had “never been touched by the state government” in the four decades he has lived there. He described annual floods that scour the corridor, deepen erosion, and cut access for schoolchildren, trader’s shops, and the elderly as challenging, thus, creating hardship for Amadunu community, Ogalue told NoGreeAfrica. “We are pleading for the Governor’s pronouncement, clear, on record that this road will receive a proper drainage solution in his next term. I have lived 44 years; each rainy season the road is ravaged again. A firm pledge would give our people hope.”
Residents say the absence of side drains and culverts has turned seasonal runoff into torrents that routinely undermine the pavement and carve gullies across the approach to the village. They note that without drainage, any future resurfacing would be short-lived, and they want the project designed to outlast heavy rains and protect adjoining homes and farmlands.
Ogalue added that the community would continue to make the appeal each week until the close of the governor’s campaign tour for a pronouncement to be made. “We seek only a promise he can keep, a bond with Amadunu, let drainage come first. We will be here to support the work and to remember the words,” he said.
Residents expressed confidence that a decisive statement from the governor would unlock the technical steps needed to stabilise the corridor and restore safe movement and economic activities after years of neglect.
